UTBT SAYS: Bit more than I could swallow and trying to balance everything. It was either doing my work or blogging about it. I chose to first one :)

Lovely post as always UTBT! Same here at our household where I gloss over things when it comes to violence, I use the term "Ummachi vadham panniduvaar". The meaning of vadham is preetty open ended though. I did a post on this topic a long time back and it was kind of deeja vu for me to hear about Chula and Mieja speak. LOL at "we are neither like our parents nor not like them". "Konjam vaayai moodu" is ultimately what I follow when questions get out of hand or I shut up :D/change the topic.

MNIamma, don't even get me strarted on Ummachi *sigh*. Right now I am confused, at crossroads, which only gets amplifed by the questions the children ask.

Naren is also into this cutting and mostly "chuttal"/shooting people with something that resembles a gun. Sometimes it is scary...terribly. I just tell him not to talk that way. When I told him, that shooting me means, that I will go away and when asked who will care for him, "Naane enna parthukuvein". Totally baffled me. Not sure how to deal with this fascination. I hope it blows away and then later on I can explain it when he can really understand and not be too dramatic about it. Sometimes when he is angry, he tells me, "Amma poi sethu poidu". The first time I heard it, I slapped him and later (still) wondered where this came from. Can't for the life of me, figure it out.

UTBT SAYS: Shobana, three yrs is much to young to mean anything. He didn't mean it. He loves you and you know that. A year - year and a half later rudimentary empathy will set in then you can go in with emotional blackmail and make the kill :)

Somtimes these kids form ramdom associations and repeat random things. It is so random, it makes me thing that they have all this already encoded in their DNA and when some kind of trigger occurs, it just manifests. Three yrs, trigger activated->start shoot chop kill routine. Three and a half - four, trigger activated-> potty jokes.....arrrrgh. Five - six year is the girls/boys give cooties trriger and so on.

We have had this talk once and twice. They know being dead means never watching TV or eating ice-cream or going swimming. This is what they broke it down to., the important stuff in a 4 yr old's life.

Whats worse than death is the sex talk. We have the egg and seed talk but the 6 yr old wanted to know, YES HOW DO THE SEED AND EGG MEET?
Thats when I shut them up..

I think this might be my 2nd comment? Or first?
I dont know but..here I am

UTBT SAYS: Sraikh, second comment and I go in to temporary amnesia too. Sometimes I think I have commented but I wouldn't have and sometimes it is the other way around. The birds and the bees.......*GULP* *SHUDDER* Why does everything need explaining? This is so not fair.

"“When you are dead you go to Ganesha. So aren’t you doing a good thing by killing? You are sending people to Ganesha.”,"

Seriously, Chula asked this? AMAZING.

UTBT SAYS: .....and this is where I tried the shut up.

Im planning to shut the kids up like I was asked to when I was growing up.

The End.

UTBT SAYS: But do they shut up like we did when we were kids? I feel its not them. It is us. We are neither like our parents nor not like our parents. We have all these modern ideas and think we are superior in child rearing when compared to our parents, yet when it comes to difficult questions/situations we revert back to what our parents did. :)
All said, explained, reasoned and blogged, I did try the shut up. Didn't work :)
