Huh. Don't fish for compliments ok - you know that was a pretty neat thought map! Loved this post.

UTBT SAYS: Thanks Poppy. I am shameless when I fish for compliments, but in this post I am not.

This is my first comment on your blog. What a way to conceptualize before passing it on to your children...! Like all your posts on 'child development', this also made a very interesting and thought provoking read.

Ashu - I will go on a playdate and stay there only. will never come back.
I am not your friend anymore. you go out.
i dont like you. you are a bad amma. go away.
this is my room. this is my house. you go out.
im not going to talk to you forver and ever.

Like you can see, she has covered her bases. I ll be the one living on the streets in a few years!! :(

UTBT SAYS: Oh, come on Boo, you will not be on the streets, you are going to jail any ways! Ha, ha, ha.

I hear the you are not my friend here too for which at times of frustration I want to S.A.Y, 'I am NOT your friend. I am your boss'. I have all these superb responses, but too bad I can't use them *Sigh*

Don't worry, pretty soon we will get together and come up with nifty strategies.

I think Mieja and Ashu will get along fabulously. both might live happily ever after in the other house!! :D
Very interesting post, as always!

UTBT SAYS: Really-huh?! Running away talks in Boo-dom too? I was telling your sister the other day, R and self tried educating the girls on what MIGHT happen to them, if they run away from home and in the process scared the children.

WOW .. what a detailed approach girl ! If only you can help out with the timelines ... I mean how long is it reasonable time before which the kids grasp all the concepts noted.
Money matters is what we are calling in our house ... its the theme of the month (rather homework from school for the month). I am trying to be as innovative as possible in trying to explain the concept of money / denomination and also the appreciation we need to show for the same.

UTBT SAYS:

Time lines. Ok.....Based on the theories in Child Development, these are rough guide lines, however every child develops in his/her own pace.

Math
Same Vs Diff - 2 years
 Sorting 2-3 yrs
 Conservation 4.5 yrs
 Counting - 2.5 yrs - 3 yrs
 Math operations - 4.5 - 5.5 yrs

Money
 Denominations - 4.5+ yrs

Shopping - 4.5+ years and is strongly influenced by adult modeling

Geography - 3+ years

Global Awareness - 4+ years.

Spiritual awareness, Saving, Difference in life style, Careers - 7+ years the awareness starts and depending on adult models, it grows or fades.

In this rate I need to bookmark every single post of yours. I love the way in which you have mapped all this utbt... and I also realize the enormous responsibility we have towards our children. It sure is scary at times.
I cant wait for part 3!
