We got water.
We have been relying very much on Team-BHP for car reviews, comparisons and such. But if you want to post a query, then plan ahead. These guys are serious about the content that goes on their website. They take a week to approve your registration.
We came across an organic exhibition collaborated by Deccan Development Society, Sahaja Aharam and Chetna Organics. Apparently every Wednesday they bring their vegetable truck to our apartment. Also there are options to order small/large vegetable basket. Their price chart seems nominal. I compared their prices for rice, jaggery, pulses and flour with Hypercity prices and the difference was less than Rs10/item. Also found 24Letter Mantra on web through MetroMela reviews. Will try out all the three places and update.
Search is on for organic milk, but I am not hopeful. The habit of getting a gallon of milk and having it at my disposal in the fridge for a week is very much second nature to me. So this half liter milk packet business is going to take a while for me to get used to. Since Mieja is still not over her lactose intolerance thing, I am buying soy milk cartons and masala buttermilk cartons for the children. At least two members out of the variable for now.
The amount of added sugar in the flavored milk, soy milk and butter milk is appalling. I find myself reading the nutrition content over and over again.
Have you read the Roscoe Riley series? The titles go ‘Never glue your friends to chairs’, ‘Never trade your sweater for a dog’ and so on. Hilarious books, much enjoyed by Chula. Along those lines, if I were to write a book and want the title to say it all, it would be, ‘NEVER TAKE YOUR CHILDREN WHEN YOU BUY UNDERWEAR FOR YOURSELF’.

Oh yeah! I remember Chula and Meija showing your underwear shopping bag and explaining your purchase when you had gone to the restroom! Oh no! I am gonna miss all that! Well, maybe they will update me on skype.

Congrats on the move…and of course the water! The elixir of life 🙂 Laughed so hard at the last line….he he he…in the short time you are in HYD, you managed to do a few things! Man you are so darn resourceful 🙂 All u have to do it plan a blogger meet with Rohini who moved there recently and I think there are a few others too. I know…I guess your mind adjusts easily to the big changes. It is the small changes that is hard to get your mind wrapped around…but I am sure you will rock it!!!! Good luck and keep updating.

Hi-Fi on that book title of yours …. my daughters have embarrassed me few times. They’d point to the exact garment in the store and loudly announce “Amma this is the exact one you wear … right?” and if I ignore them, they challenge themselves to shout louder and explain in detail when / which color I possess.
UTBT SAYS: Oh yes the ignoring. Nothing back fires as ignoring. LOL!
nice to see that you all are settling down well there. and in such a short time you have so many updates 🙂 will definitely look up the roscoe riley series.
UTBT SAYS: H, thanks to broadband, I write my updates. A will love the Roscoe Riley series. Its pretty funny.
Masala buttermilk is totally delicious. Miss them sooo much 🙁
UTBT SAYS: It is good. My mother is loving it too.
My first time commenting here, though I have been following your blogs here. Wonderful R2I posts. I am sure we will go through all this when we are going to R2I in another 3-4 months. Still not sure if it will be chennai or non chennai. We too are in the Bay Area. Totally appreciate your spirit in the transition even though they are baby steps! Keeps the posts coming 🙂
UTBT SAYS: Thanks for stopping by Anu. If you have family in the city you are moving to, some things get simplified. Like gas connection, pointers as to where to get what, borrowing house hold stuff till your shipment arrives etc. Good luck with your move and feel free to ping me if you need specifics.
True, having family in the same city can make a huge difference. Thank you UTBT, I am sure going to need your help – to name a few – the packers/ shipping options from here, what things are better (like utensils or clothing etc) to get from here etc.
UTBT SAYS: Will email you.
Did you find Organic milk? My bro lives in Hyd and gets cow’s milk (unprocessed, grass-fed cows yada yada) from a Goshaala nearby. If you are interested, mail me and I can get you the details.
UTBT SAYS: Not yet. Send the details to my email pls. utbtkids@gmail.com.
