We love this one. Our copy is even signed by Anita Nair, the author, whom we met serendipitiously at Crossword as we were leaving the store after having just bought the book!
UTBT SAYS: WOWZA! How did you know that it was Anita Nair?
And where is the promised book quiz?
UTBT SAYS: The quiz is relying on my non-existent graphics skills. So will put it up 1st week of Aug?
I had seen her pic in the TOI, and one cannot forget that mane of hair. Crazily enough, a few days after that, I had spotted her at another Crossword browsing through books. I eyed her surreptitiously over the books I was looking at, and wondering where I had seen the lady. She seemed so familiar. Suddenly I realized who she was. I had read Ladies Coupe, and it is a book I love. So I immediately searched for another of her books- saw just one- Goodnight and god bless- and proceeded to buy it before she escaped. When I turned around to confront her, she was gone. Immediately I went out of the store and looked around the mall, but couldn’t see her.
“Where would I go if I were her?” I asked myself, and immediately rushed to the Fabindia outlet, and there she was! I took a deep breath to calm myself (I was meeting a well-known writer for the first time; this was in my pre-ST days, so I hadn’t yet met you fine ladies :)) and went up to her. Poor lady, I cornered her armed with the book, gushed as to how much I had enjoyed her books, and she graciously signed the copy I was holding.
When I met her the second time around, she didn’t have a chance. A was with me, and I had just bought her book, well, she just HAD to sign it.
I suppose it must be horrible to be cornered by gushing fans like this, and I’m not terribly proud of myself, but come on, I know I would behave so besotted only with writers.:)
Sorry for the mini-post.
UTBT SAYS: Thats ok. I have promised myself that I will not cry when I meet Anushka Ravishankar or Asha Nehemiah
