Misc Notes Not To Be Missed

One of the courses I am taking this quarter is Child’s Ways Of Knowing and Thinking. Yes, I can interpret why a child is behaving in the way he/she does. So far the joke is on students like us trying to break the psyche of the young child. Out there millions of children are laughing their pants off saying, ‘Yeah, now you can use technical jargon to describe the basis of our behavior. So???? You still can’t do anything about it.’
Anyways, I am digressing. There is this wonderful book called Piaget Primer, that describes using simple cartoon from Peanuts, excerpts from classics like Winnie The Pooh, Phantom Toll Booth, Alice In Wonderland and The Little Prince to describe the way the child thinks. A wonderful book, so if any of you get a chance, do thumb through it.
The book had a piece about classification and this was the cartoon that accompanied it. Had me in splits.
And this piece describes what is happening at home.
And the other day, I picked up Chula from school, she said she drew a picture of me and handed me this. βThis is you amma. I draw youβ she said with a big smile and gleaming teeth. Presenting me ta-daβ¦..
Never mind if the picture says George Washington π

This book sounds interesting> Available in the libraries?
Your course sounds truly interesting. Hope you’ll share some insights from it whenever you get a chance. WOuld love to know more about how a child thinks and knows things.

Tharini, my girl, you are all action aren’t you?! I read the piaget primer and picked up The Little Prince and Phantom Tollbooth from the library.
Yaadayaada, I will teach Mieja to pull your hair. God, who am I kidding, she doesn’t need any teaching to do that. It comes naturally to her!
nm, I loved the toons. I almost chocked on my food when I read the first one and for the second, the younger kid in the toon looks so much like my younger one. I was at class when I read this and for the rest of the class, I kept thinking about her.
The cartoons are hilarious! Though I am not completely there yet, as the older one is mostly shielded from the little one. I know WHAT TO EXPECT! After seeing Chula and Mieja, all I am planning right now is :
1. Get a sewing machine, attach suspenders to all my pants.
2. Keep Dlittle away from Meija. Am not sure I can do this, because somewhere deep inside I want Dlittle to be like that. I said it!!

GW huh? One thing though, am impressed how she has colored within the picture. Too good for her age π
DdMom, don’t you know, kids comunicate by telepathy. So doesn’t matter if you keep them away, Dlittle will learn π
