(This is part 1 of 3)
Mieja neatly polished off the entire plate of ribbon pakoda, masala peanuts, maida biscuits I made for Diwali, in record time. This is a child who will stare at food on plate for days together and claim that she didn’t eat it because the food was not her friend. So I was naturally surprised and as a reflex I checked under the table. Finding no eatable of any kind stashed under the table, I asked her, with my eyebrows raised, “Oh, wow, you finished everything!” I had already offended the said child by looking under the table. So she replies to me in a very condescending tone, “Yes amma. We don’t waste food. Do you know people in Afghanistan are starving? They don’t have any kind of food to eat.”
Why Afghanistan? Will do a post on that later.(Part 2 of 3)

Wow, that made me curious! I’ll look forward to your post on Afghanistan.
UTBT SAYS: Monday PST, you shall find out.
ha ha.. that was funny.. and I can’t wait to know why Afghanistan!
UTBT SAYS: She said it so much conviction, that’s why I remember it after so many days.
Seems like a new lesson she learnt is stuck in her mind
I just hope it stays with her for a long long time and becomes a lesson for life to not waste food.
You know kids …. they forget easily …
UTBT SAYS: CA, unfortunately she remembers this only for fried foods. Anything healthy that involves veggies, she forgets conveniently and the one time I reminded her, she said, “Well they can have this food amma. I will share with them.”
Afghanistan indeed! Actually I am extremely curious about this.
UTBT SAYS: Shobs, nothing funny in sequel. Pretty serious stuff. Almost done with the post.
Very funny! I should try this tactic of hungry kids in Afghanistan with my older one :-). He does not like anything that is made at home which is completely opposite to my little one, she eats only home cooked food!
UTBT SAYS: Sujatha try-na. But also be prepared for, “Okay, I don’t want it. Give the food to Afghanistan.”
my laughing days are not far off.. or so it seems..
🙂
pasanga nakkalukku onnum kuraichale illai!
I am imagining her saying this with a straight face and cant help but laugh.
UTBT SAYS: Yes Sundar, I agree. Not far away.
LOL! at the last 2 posts. C is cute and M is a riot, the cute kind! Reading about her constantly prepares me for future 😉
On the iphone post, I can so relate to whatever you have written. I was in the same boat 2 years back. Good news is that the addiction does not last long, coolness factor stays however 🙂 🙂
UTBT SAYS: No DDMom. She is the scary riot kind of thing right now. Sigh. Thinking back, there had been phases when I was scared of the children. 10 months back, I used to be scared of Chula, now Mieja. The only thing that is giving me some peace is that, at least it is a phase. Soon, Mieja will be the easy one and I will be hiding under the table scared of Chula.
Wow! Does it also extend to non snacks? Which would be absolutely great isn’t it?
UTBT SAYS: No no no no no…..and NO. All rights strictly reserved by Mieja to fried items that are devoid of any kind of veggies.

UTBT SAYS: Yeah, kids across the world are in some sort of the same secret club me thinks.
